The athmosphere was relaxed in the smokey room, the only occupant was relaxing with his feet on the slightly singed desk. A new model of computer sits on the desk, stuck on a screensaver that refuses to hit the corner no matter how long it ran for, a heavy layer of dust on the monitor. The door opens suddenly, prompting the man at the desk to adjust his posture with the movement revealing the screen on a collection of random files scttered on a messy desktop.

"Boss, I have the files you requested. I still don't understand why you insist on having us print them when the computer is right there." A tall old man enters the room carrying a mountain of papers, which he unceremoniously drops on the desk.

"Eugenio, I already told you that it's better to keep a paper copy of important documents, because nobody expects it. I also just like the feel of it, it's comforting." The relatively young man in an elegant suit picks up one of the files and starts scanning it. "So, how are the recruits doing?"

The old man is opening a window in the back of the room to let the smoke out. "They are... progressing." There is a hint of frustration in the old man's voice as he scratches his horn.

"That bad huh?" After a quick galnce at the face of his interlocutor Lance continued. "Lucio lost control of his magic again, Melany messed up the fingerprint formula, and I think Sergio felt sick after he saw the mess from before, someone should be with him in the infirmary when he wakes up, he does not like being alone in there." After that he goes back to reading.

"It will never stop to amaze me how you mange to do this Boss. Hell I still can't believe we are a legit agency now." The old man sits on a couch on the side of the room, picking up a cup of coffee left on the table near it.

"It's not that hard, I just know what to look for. You have a stain of blood on your suit and since there was no combat training today it had to be from Lucio handling blood magic poorly. You still have fingerprints all over your back, most are yours but a couple are Melany's as she undoubtedly tried to clean up the mess, with little success. And if blood is involved it's probable Sergio is not going to do well, I worry for him sometimes, this is not the right line of work for him."

"They sure are an odd bunch, I honestly think none of them fit as detectives. They would be worse criminals however so I guess this is still better for them." The old man looks intentely at the coffee cup in his hands. "You didn't even touch this."

"I already had four this morning, or was it yesterday technically? I checked some interesting records that may help with new cases." Lance stands up from his desk, dark flame flickering on his head. "It's time to get moving, I feel a new case is close." The expression on his face is a strange combination of serious and excited.

"I've seen this strange instinct of yours work way too many times to question it. Do you think the people in those files are up something shady? Even Carmine had trouble getting info on some of these, hope they are worth it."

"I don't know yet, they may be victims, or just bystanders. I will update them after I make my deductions, thank you."

"And before I forget, the radio is fixed, try not to fry it again. The brats asked to see you before you disappear again, so maybe stop by the dorms later, I feel like you will not be here long."

"Perfect, I hated missing possible leads. I will pass the dorms on my way out, I am sure they will see me." And with that Lance takes his pile of papers and sits down on the much more comfortable couch. Eugenio leaves with a polite gesture and the room goes back to quiet, with the low hum of the computer fans. "Now then, what mystery is going to force itself in my life today?"
